Smalls

The history of Smalls started in 2017 with a simple belief that cats deserve better. Frustrated by the lack of high-quality, species-appropriate food on store shelves, our founder, Matt Michaelson, took matters into his own hands by cooking human-grade fresh meals from scratch and sharing them with cat parents. The results spoke for themselves: happier, healthier cats with shinier coats, better digestion, and improved energy levels. What began as a small batch operation in a home kitchen quickly grew, fueled by word-of-mouth from cat parents who saw real changes in their cats. Since then, we’ve served over 25 million meals and expanded from a direct-to-consumer subscription to 250+ retail stores nationwide. But no matter how much we grow, our mission is to put cats first, just like we did from day one. Our mission Our mission is to make nine lives ten with our cat-first, cat-only products. For too long, cats have been treated as second-class citizens, and we’re here to change that for good. Whether it’s developing a new recipe or toy, we strive to create products that improve cats’ health, bring joy, satisfy their instinctual desire, and support the bond between them and their human. Our nutritional philosophy We believe in feeding cats the way nature intended—everything they need and nothing they don’t. That means high-protein, biologically appropriate meals made without unnecessary carbs or fillers. Our fresh food recipes are crafted with human-grade ingredients, formulated by veterinary nutritionists, and backed by 90+ palatability studies to provide complete and balanced nutrition for even the pickiest of cats.
