VAFO Group, one of Europe’s leading pet food companies headquartered in the Czech Republic, has acquired Pets Deli, a Berlin-based premium pet food brand with a strong direct-to-consumer (D2C) position. The transaction, announced on August 11, 2026, strengthens VAFO’s presence in Germany and adds a digital growth platform to its European portfolio.
VAFO Group’s turnover exceeds €700 million, with 1,500+ employees across nine European countries and flagship brands including Brit and Carnilove distributed in 90+ countries. Pets Deli’s turnover exceeds €40 million, built on a data-driven digital platform offering wet food, dry food, raw feeding products, snacks and supplements for dogs and cats.
The deal combines Pets Deli’s D2C strength, brand appeal and customer insight with VAFO’s manufacturing scale, R&D capability and procurement power. Pets Deli will continue to operate under its own brand name, with post-acquisition focus on accelerating D2C growth, strengthening customer retention and expanding the product portfolio using VAFO’s sourcing capabilities.
The transaction continues the European pet food M&A consolidation wave of summer 2026, following Cotecnica/Life Pet Care, Assisi/Forthglade, United Petfood/SmartPetPro, Burgess/Bunny Nature and Central Garden & Pet’s pending €400M TRIXIE acquisition. The specific strategic logic — a manufacturer acquiring a D2C brand to gain digital consumer relationships — signals that European pet food groups are racing to build omnichannel platforms combining production scale with direct customer access.
