Natural Balance & Canidae
About Natural Balance & Canidae
Founded in the US in 1989, Natural Balance is a pioneer in hypoallergenic pet diets. Specializing in Limited Ingredient Diets (LID), each formula uses a single animal protein source to help pets accurately avoid specific allergens. Dedicated to the long-term health of cats and dogs with sensitive digestion, it has earned consecutive Whole Dog Journal (WDJ) recommendations. Founded in 1996 by John Gordon and Scott Whipple, Canidae started by handcrafting healthy pet meals using ingredients from their own farm. Guided by core principles of health, safety, and nutrition, they partnered with veterinarians to develop their first formula. After 30 years, Canidae now owns premium farms yielding millions of pounds of fresh ingredients annually and globally sources high-quality materials, remaining steadfast in its commitment to natural nutrition.
