Big-A Co., Ltd.

Big-A Co., Ltd. is a Japanese urban hard discount store operator headquartered in Hasune, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeon Co., Ltd. Established in August 1979, it based its model on the German hard discounter Aldi and runs small footprint stores selling fresh and processed foods together with daily necessities across Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba and Ibaraki. The chain had 331 stores as of the end of June 2025 and around 350 stores across Tokyo and four neighbouring prefectures in 2026, with about 6,800 employees including part-time workers. It keeps expanding its store network with a target of roughly 600 stores.
