About Cora Belgium
Cora is a Belgian hypermarket chain founded in 1974 by the Louis Delhaize Group, which took over three Carrefour hypermarkets in Belgium that had originally opened around 1969. Headquartered in Jumet, part of Charleroi, Cora operated large out-of-town hypermarkets with adjoining shopping galleries combining food, clothing, electronics, household goods and leisure services. The brand was previously present in France, Luxembourg, Romania and Hungary, but those operations were sold to Carrefour, E.Leclerc and Auchan between 2011 and 2024. In April 2025 Cora announced that it would close its last seven Belgian hypermarkets, with the remaining stores scheduled to shut by 31 January 2026.
