Kookeez Dog Treats Inc.

Kookeez began over 10 years ago with a simple love for baking what we called “people cookies.”

After an unexpected elbow injury left me at home recovering, a last-minute opportunity came up to help a local market in Old Strathcona that urgently needed someone to bake cookies. Seeing the chance to support the organizer—and fulfil my lifelong dream of starting a business—I created the name Kookeez, gathered supplies, and began baking while attending physiotherapy. Our cookies were an immediate success and quickly sold out at the market.

Although we continued making them for a few years, something felt missing; we wanted to contribute to a meaningful purpose. After hearing multiple news stories about contaminated dog food and treats, our mission became clear—dogs deserved safer, healthier alternatives. Since I already baked treats for my own pups, we introduced dog cookies at the market, and they were an instant hit.

From that moment on, Kookeez shifted fully into crafting natural, chemical-free dog treats made with high-quality ingredients and processed to stay fresh longer without refrigeration. We began with three main flavors and now proudly offer six—including gluten-free options—many inspired directly by pup-parent feedback. At Kookeez, we believe the best ideas come from the dogs and the humans who love them. As I always say: We may make it, but with your feedback, we can make it better.
