VEGDOG & VEGCAT (younikat GmbH)

VEGDOG is one of the innovation leaders in the field of functional, plant-based dog nutrition. For the past 10 years, the company has been developing high-quality, science-based products with a clear focus on health, digestibility, and future viability – setting new standards in a rapidly evolving pet food market. VEGDOG was founded by Tessa Zaune-Figlar and Valerie Henssen, driven by a very specific need: Tessa was looking for a nutritionally complete and highly digestible solution for her own dog, who suffered from food intolerances – but couldn’t find one. This challenge became the starting point for VEGDOG. A key differentiator is the company’s specialization in hypoallergenic formulations. VEGDOG offers targeted nutritional solutions for dogs with food intolerances – an increasingly relevant segment. By avoiding major animal and plant-based allergens and using carefully selected plant protein sources, VEGDOG creates highly digestible products without compromising on nutritional completeness. All recipes are developed in collaboration with veterinarians and are aligned with current FEDIAF guidelines. The objective is clearly defined: complete and balanced diets that combine nutritional safety with functional benefits. Every product follows an evidence-based approach, from ingredient selection to final analysis. The portfolio includes: Complete wet and dry foods Functional snacks with clearly defined benefits Supplements designed to support specific needs Beyond functionality, palatability remains a key priority. VEGDOG combines nutritional expertise with high acceptance and everyday practicality. Innovation is not just a claim but an ongoing process in product development, consistently guided by scientific research. The launch of VEGCAT, including the first vegan cat snack based on fermentation protein, further strengthens the company’s role as an innovation leader and marks a logical next step in the brand’s evolution. VEGDOG is internationally positioned and present in numerous European markets. Distribution is handled via the company’s own online shop as well as an expanding network of retail partners. Animal welfare is a core part of the company’s DNA. VEGDOG actively supports animals in need, contributes to animal welfare projects and organizations through food donations and financial support, and takes responsibility beyond its own product portfolio. VEGDOG stands for a new generation of dog nutrition: innovative, hypoallergenic, and science-based—developed for the needs of modern dogs and their owners.
