About KIK Textilien und Non-Food GmbH
KIK Textilien und Non-Food GmbH, founded in April 1994 by Stefan Heinig together with the Tengelmann Group and headquartered in Bönen (North Rhine-Westphalia), is Germany's largest textile and non-food discount retail chain. The name KIK stands for "Kunde ist König" (The customer is king). KIK operates over 4,200 stores in 14 European markets — Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Netherlands, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, and Spain — and employs more than 32,000 people from over 120 nations.
Operating since 2013, KIK's online store complements its brick-and-mortar presence. The company sources from around 500 suppliers in Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, and Turkey, with Bangladesh accounting for over 40% of orders. KIK's range of 13,500+ products includes women's, men's, and children's clothing, baby wear, underwear, toys, accessories, and home textiles, with a full outfit available for under €30. Since 2015, KIK has been a member of the German Partnership for Sustainable Textiles and was the first German retailer to ban plastic bags, saving approximately 33 million bags annually.
