Founded in 1973 by Chuck West as Pet Circus, the family-owned business was renamed Pet Supermarket in 1986 and has since grown to more than 200 stores, concentrated in Florida and operating across about a dozen states.
The company sells more than 8,000 pet care products, focusing on premium dog and cat food along with supplies for birds, reptiles and fish, plus treats, toys, health products and accessories. Stores also provide grooming, self-serve dog washes and vaccination clinics in selected locations.
Pet Supermarket runs a loyalty program and a buy-online, pick-up-in-store service, and works with local shelters and rescue organizations on adoption events and community fundraising through its Lend a Paw program. The company remains privately held.

Pet Supermarket is a US pet specialty chain headquartered in Sunrise, Florida, founded in 1973 as Pet Circus and renamed Pet Supermarket in 1986, operating about 200 company-owned neighbourhood stores concentrated in Florida and the Southeast. It has been owned by private equity firm Roark Capital Group since 2015 and was grouped with Pet Valu under the Pet Retail Brands umbrella. Stores sell pet food and supplies and offer grooming, self-serve dog wash and VIP Petcare veterinary clinics at selected locations.
